Associate Scientist Britt Raubenheimer, Evan Williams and Seth Zippel of the Applied Ocean Physics and Engineering department, disassemble an instrument tripod with a volunteer in Skagit Bay, Wa. As part of the Skagit Tidal Flats Experiment, tripods equipped with various sensors were used to investigate forces important to flows and sediment transport on the tidal flats. The results of the study will be useful to understanding movement of sediments  and pollution, and evolution of marshes and channels, which provide critical habitat for juvenile salmon.
