Iselin Marine Facility
The WHOI pier at the Iselin Marine Facility has two principal berths, one 430 feet long and the second 256 feet long. Both can accept vessels with drafts equal to the 19-foot limit imposed by the approach channel to the harbor. All visiting vessels should contact the Port Office or (508-289-3938) to obtain permission and instructions for tying up. Potable water, fuel and provisions are available.
Scientific investigators staging cruises in Woods Hole may use one of the most complete shop facilities available for oceanographic equipment fabrication in the United States. As part of our Marine Facility, we offer carpentry, mechanical, electrical, welding, and machine shop services dockside. Hangar bays may be used for indoor staging of large instruments; 5- and 25-ton bridge cranes facilitate heavy lifting. Vehicles on the premises include hydraulic cranes, forklifts, and flatbed trucks. Our wire winding machine may be used for winch support, and we have sufficient dock space for loading and unloading containerized shipments. Assistance is available through our Distribution Department for local, domestic and international consignments.
