PIES and CPIES in support of Internal Waves Resolving Arrays.

(A) Fabricate 18 CPIES plus one additional DCS current meter option.

Regarding (A), the CPIES are based on Model 6.2C Pressure-recording Inverted Echo Sounders. Each will include the Paroscientific Digiquartz model 410K pressure sensor plus a relocation module with internal 156.875 MHz (Marine Channel 77) radio and strobe flasher. Should have the maximum battery pack (240/60 AHr, System /Release battery). This combination will give us the greatest combination of deployment depths and duration.  Provide rigid anchor stands for each instrument. The IES includes already an acoustic release.

The CPIES all add the DCS current meter option, which comprises an Aanderaa acoustic Doppler Current Sensor (DCS, Z-pulse model 4930R) on a 50 m data cable plus flotation to moor it above the PIES. The CPIES combines current and temperature measurements with its pressure and acoustic travel time measurements to serve as combined controller, power supply, data logger and acoustic release, with acoustic telemetry capability.
