Ship Speed for planning

For planning purposes, 11 knots is used for transit calculations. Actual transit speed may vary depending upon conditions.

It is good practice to interface with the bridge crew either before the cruise via the Marine Operations Coordinator or immediately upon boarding the vessel in regards to science station coordinates.

Ship Departure/Arrival Information

» R/V Atlantis - Departure and arrival times are dependent upon port and tides, though AM departures and arrivals are preferred.

» R/V Neil Armstrong - Departure and arrival times are dependent upon port and tides, though AM departures and arrivals are preferred.

Move aboard/Move off Information

Scientists joining the ship will normally be permitted to move into their cabins at noon of the day before cruise departure.

Scientists departing the ship will be expected to be moved out of their cabins and remove equipment from the ship at noon on the day after cruise completion.

Extensions of this policy will be considered on an individual basis by the Steward and Master.

The science party is responsible for their own meals during a port call before moving into their cabin.
