The purpose of the synopsis is to provide a single, concise document identifying all equipment, operational, technical support and logistical requirements for the cruise. It is accessible via the web to all persons affected by the cruise. The synopsis attempts to identify potential problem areas, special needs, unresolved issues and the personnel responsible for providing equipment and services. The Research Vessel Science Coordinator modifies the synopsis based on communication with the science party via email, phone, etc.
