The General Oceanics pCO2 8050 System autonomously takes measurements of the sea water, logging the partial pressure of carbon dioxide, which is the amount of dissolved CO2 gas in solution. This instrument is primarily used to track changes in ocean acidity over time, and is run each cruise along with the other science underway seawater system sensors. The unit is comprised of three enclosures, the dry box, the wet box, and the satellite deck box. Some more features of the system:
- Licor CO2 analyzer LI-7815
- Calibration gasses connected via tubing
- Infared analyzer
