Please note:

  • Completing an K-12 Visit/Field Trip Request Form does not guarantee WHOI participation.
  • We will respond to requests as quickly as possible on a first-come first-serve basis, please allow 5 business days for a response.
  • These experiences are available to educational groups such as schools, summer camps, Scout groups, etc. To visit WHOI as a member of the general public, please schedule a Guided Tour.

Field Trips to WHOI

Please note:

  • WHOI does not have overnight housing available for minors
  • Each group should have at least 2 chaperones per 20 students
  • WHOI is an active workplace, we only offer field trips during business hours (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm)

Visiting your Classroom

We offer free 1-hour lessons with hands-on activities and presentations on marine and coastal topics for K-8 classrooms. All lessons are linked to MA Science and Technology/Engineering (STE) standards. Please refer to the Coasts, Oceans, and Stewardship (COAST) Program website for lesson details.
