The Institution has received word of the death of John M. Ranney of Safety Harbor, FL, November 15, 2000. John worked at the Institution from 1976 to 1983 as a security guard and later as Assistant Building Services Supervisor. A copy of the complete notice will be posted as available.

The Institution has received word of the death of Henry G. Walter, Jr., Honorary Member of the Corporation, of Long Island, NY, Saturday, November 11. A copy of the complete notice will be posted as available.

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death October 27, 2000 of John R. “Jack” Bracebridge at Falmouth Hospital. He was 63.

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death October 1, 2000 of retiree Eric H. Frank, Jr. at Falmouth Hospital. He was 73.

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death September 29, 2000 of Susan A. Tarbell of the Physical Oceanography Department. Susan died at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. She was 57.

The Institution has received word of the death of James E. Coddington of Mashpee, Tuesday, September 19. James worked at the Institution for over 18 years as a security guard from 1975 until his illness in 1993. The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution has received word of the death September 7, 2000 of former Corporation Member Norman E. MacNeil at his home in Woods Hole. He was 74.

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution has received word of the death July 28, 2000 of retiree Harry H. Seibert at his home in Sebastian, Florida. He was 81.

Harry Seibert worked in Marine Operations at the Institution from 1951 until his retirement in June 1974, many of those years as Captain of Research Vessel Gosnold.

The Institution has received word of the death of Ruth Dixon Turner of Cambridge on Sunday, April 30, after a long illness. Ruth was a longtime adjunct scientist in the Biology Department. Visiting hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, at the Long Funeral Home, 1979 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge.

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death April 3, 2000 of retiree John A. Kostrzewa at the Aleda E. Lutz Veterans Administration Medical Center in Saginaw, Michigan. He was 93.

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death March 27, 2000 of Scientist Emeritus Frank Jewett Mather, III. Frank died at the JML Care Center in Falmouth after a brief illness at age 89.

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death February 29, 2000 of retiree William Krucharski of Mississippi, at age 60. William started at WHOI as a lab assistant in 1971 and retired in 1979 as a research assistant in the Mechanics III Division in Ocean Engineering. Further details will be posted as available.

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death February 29, 2000 of former employee Linda E. Lucier. Linda died at her brother??A?s home in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, after a long battle with cancer. She was 58.

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death February 18, 2000 of retiree Alexander T. Johnston of West Falmouth, MA, at age 86. The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death January 1, 2000 of retiree Thomas H.M. Smart at the JML Care Center in Falmouth after a long illness. He was 77.

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death December 31, 1999 of Honorary Member of the Corporation Elliot Richardson. He died at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston of a cerebral hemorrhage. He was 79.

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death December 30, 1999 of retiree and former Deputy Controller Henry G. Behrens in Falmouth. He was 89.

The Institution has received word of the death of Joseph F. Motta, Monday, December 13, 1999 in Falmouth. Joe worked at the Institution for over 20 years, most recently in Graphic Services until his retirement in 1986. Further deatails will be posted available.
