Getting Their Sea Legs

Getting Their Sea Legs

July 16, 2018

The incoming class of MIT-WHOI Joint Program students joins the crew of the sailing school vessel Corwith Cramer in a cheerful collapse to celebrate their return to Woods Hole after the 2018 Jake Peirson Summer Cruise. Over the ten-day trip, the students get a hands-on introduction to seagoing oceanography while learning to sail a 134-foot brigantine run by Sea Education Association. The cruise is named in honor of Jake Peirson, who worked at WHOI from 1967 to 1996, serving as Assistant Dean and Associate Dean/Registrar. (Photo by Lauren Heinen, Sea Education Association)
