Stanley G. Rosenblad

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution has received word of the death
of retiree Stanley G. Rosenblad on January 20.  He was 75.

Stan graduated from Millbury High School, Millbury, MA, in 1950, and
then served 20 years in the United States Airforce as master
sergeant/electronics technician.  He began his career at WHOI in
1973 as a research assistant in the ocean engineering department and
retired in 1997, having worked up to the position of engineering
assistant.  Stan returned to WHOI on a casual basis from 1998 to
2000. 

During his career at WHOI, Stan made contributions to many complex
projects.  He developed innovative tools and techniques during the
construction of a variety of oceanographic instruments.  He
participated in field programs involving ships, buoys and arctic ice
camps.  He is remembered by colleagues as a cheerful and skilled
companion under all circumstances.

Stan and his wife loved traveling in their RV and belonged to various RV clubs.

Stan is survived by his wife Elaine Rosenblad; his children Stanley
Rosenblad II of Cummaquid, MA; Karan Rosenblad of Falmouth, MA, and
Donna Bambery of South Attleboro, MA; stepchildren Barry Wilcox of KY;
Lance Wilcox of Ft. Myers Beach, FL; Holly Wilcox-Cline of Mashpee,
MA;  Rhonda Bentley of Castle Hayne, NC and many grandchildren and
great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, in
Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, Route 151, Mashpee. A funeral
service will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 26, at
Cataumet United Methodist Church, 1093 County Rd., Catuamet, MA. 
Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made
to the Circle of Friends Fund, HOSCC (Hematology/oncology specialists
of Cape Cod), 210 Jones Road, Suite 2-5, Falmouth, MA 02540.
