Napoleon “Mac” McCall

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death of former employee Napoleon “Mac” McCall on February 19.  He was 61.

Mac served in the US Army for 13 years achieving rank of Staff Sargent. He worked as a chef at the Swope center at MBL from 2000 until his passing.

Mac began his career at WHOI in 1988 as a facilities assistant.  He worked in Facilities and Distribution throughout his WHOI career and was promoted several times.  He left in 2002.

Mac was very active in his church, the Falmouth Baptist Church. He enjoyed cooking often and serving in the kitchen for the annual SMASH Christian camp event, the Men’s Ministry, and Couple’s Nights. He also served on several committees at the church, including: the Trustees, the ChurchTime Committee, Men’s Ministry, Missionary, Preparing for Tomorrow, Social, Sound and Ushering committees. He enjoyed sharing his love of cooking and people with everybody he met.

He was the beloved husband of Olimpia McCall for 40 years. In addition to his wife, he leaves his father, Napoleon McCall Sr. of Rochester, New York; his two daughters, Tomia McCall and Vanessa McCall, and his son, Napoleon McCall IV, all of Teaticket; four grandchildren, Uri and Bryanna Avant, Leilani McCall, and Octavia McCall; and his siblings, Moses, Curtis, Leroy, David Lee, and Patrick McCall, Tina McCall Drennan, and Michael McCall; and other family.

A memorial service was held at Falmouth Baptist Church, 60 Central Park Court, Falmouth, Mass. Interment will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Friday, March 2, at 10:00 a.m.
