Mike (Spydir) Marchisin

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death of employee Michael (Spydir) Marchisin on Nov. 5, 2012.  He was 45.

Michael began his career at WHOI in 2010 as a welder in the Facilities Department. He was the beloved son of Joyce (Roberts) Tharrett. Michael graduated from Falmouth High School. He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy for many years. Michael had a strong passion for fixing and repairing motorcycles, especially his own. He also loved to hunt and hang out with his friends. He was a loving father, son, and friend and will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

Michael is survived by his wife Lisa Marchisin of Pocasset, his loving daughter Ivy Marchisin of Pocasset, two brothers, Ernest Marchisin of Hyannis, Peter Thompson of New Bedford, his niece Tiffany Marchisin, and several step-brothers and sisters.

A visitation will be held Sunday, November 25, 2012 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Chapman Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave., Mashpee. A graveside service will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. The family has kindly requested no flowers.
