Melvin Rosenfeld

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death of retiree Melvin Rosenfeld on August 19, 2012, in Hoffman Estates, IL.

Melvin Rosenfeld was born in Chicago, and received his B.S. in Geology from the University of Chicago in 1940. He received both an M.S. (1950) and Ph.D. (1953) in Geology from Penn State University.

Melvin began working at WHOI in 1965 as the manager of the Computer Group.  In  1969, he became a senior scientist.  He left in 1981.
