Welcome Postdoctoral Investigator Jia-Rui (Ray) Shi
Ray Shi, Postdoctoral Investigator, joins WHOI’s PO Department. Ray earned his PhD from the Climate, Atmospheric Sciences and Physical Oceanography Program at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UCSD. Ray will be working with Young-Oh Kwon and Susan Wijffels while at WHOI. His research interests include ocean-atmosphere interactions and especially their roles in climate formation, change and variability. As a member of the PO climate group, Ray will investigate how the ocean evolves due to greenhouse gas and anthropogenic aerosol forcings in contrast with the background of internal variability, using observations and numerical models of the ocean, atmosphere and their coupled system. Ray enjoys snorkeling and hiking as well as reading/watching detective fiction and movies. Photo provided by Ray Shi.
