Postdoctoral Investigator Onur Karakus

Onur Karakus, Postdoctoral Investigator, joins WHOI’s PO Department.  Onur earned his PhD from the University of Bremen & Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI), Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research in Bremerhaven, Germany.  Onur’s research interests include physical-biogeochemical interactions, biogeochemical modelling, data analysis and carbon cycling.  Currently, he is working with Ke Chen, Heather Kim and Rubao Ji on the biogeochemical modeling of the Northwest Atlantic shelf-slope region using a coupled regional model.  In his free time, Onur likes being in nature and enjoys all forms of outdoor activities—specifically biking, hiking, and swimming. He also enjoys listening to all kinds of music.
