Florence K. Mellor

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death June 17, 2004, of retiree Florence K. Mellor, 92, of Falmouth, MA, at Falmouth Hospital.

Florence joined the Institution as a secretary in the geophysics group and later worked in the Education Office, the Geology and Geophysics Department, and in Administrative Offices. She retired in 1976 and later worked on a casual basis till 1987.

Florence was born in 1911 in Bourne, MA, spent her early life in the Monument Beach area of Bourne and graduated from Bourne High School.

Florence is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Edward S. (June M.) Newsham of Oneonta, NY. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Richard G. Mellor.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 30, in the John Wesley United Methodist Church, 270 Gifford Street, Falmouth.

A private burial will take place in the Church Yard Cemetery, Woods Hole, MA.
