Vladimir Bulygin

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death of employee Vladimir Bulygin of a heart attack on June 28.  He was 45.

Vladimir received his Masters Degree in 1986 and his Ph.D in 1992 from the School of Biology in Russia.

Vladimir began his career at WHOI in 2007 as a research associate under Mak Saito in the Marine Chemistry and Geochemistry Department. Mak described Vladimir as a wonderful colleague who brought his biochemical expertise, as well as a great kindness and sense of humor to the group, and said he will be greatly missed.
 
Prior to his work at WHOI, Vladimir was a research fellow at Moscow State University from 1990 – 1993; a post-doctoral associate at the Finch University of Health Sciences at the Chicago Medical School from 1993-1994; and a research scientist/research professor at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, from 1995 – 2006.  He was the author and co-author of several scientific papers.
