Um, I Love It But I Hope It Comes With a Manual
January 31, 2011A group of penguins watch as an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) SeaBED is deployed from the deck of the R/V James C. Ross in the Weddell Sea in November 2010. The cruise was led by the British Antarctic Survey to take the first comprehensive look at how Antarctic sea ice changes over time. WHOI researchers Hanu Singh, Jeff Pietro, Clay Kunz, Chris Murphy and Derya Akkaynak used SeaBED to make detailed surveys of ice floes and pack ice from below while scientists on the ice and in the air measured ice thickness and shape as well as environmental conditions on the surface and in the water.
