Joint Program student Will Harris (AOSE, co-advised by Magdalena Andres, PO), Snehal Prabhu (WHOI Marine Ops), MIT students Max Pierce (Mechanical Engineering) and Aarshi Jain (Microbiology) helping members of the USGS coring (Kelli Moran and Amy Geist) collect a core on board the RV Roger Revelle on cruise RR2412 as part of the New England Seamounts Acoustics (NESMA) experiment. Andres served as Chief Scientist on this cruise, which was one of several to the Atlantis II Seamount this summer and fall. NESMA also includes PO scientist Robert Todd and postdoc Alice Ren with PO technical staff support from Edie Salzig and Brian Hogue who were both on RR2412, and Patrick Deane. This mud came from 5040 m depth, just south of Atlantis II Seamount.
