Bring the ocean to your inbox
Explorer and filmmaker James Cameron sits on top of DEEPSEA CHALLENGER, the submersible he designed and built to carry him to the deepest spot in the ocean in 2012. One year later, Cameron donated the sub to WHOI in order to ensure that the technology he developed is applied to future generations of underwater vehicles. Today, Saturday August 24, from 9:30 to 2:00, the public is invited to a free public event to see DEEPSEA CHALLENGER up close and to learn about ocean trenches, why they are so fascinating, and the challenges engineers have to over come to explore the deepest parts of the ocean.
