Supporting the Future of Ocean Science

Supporting the Future of Ocean Science

May 18, 2014

Thirty-one students from the Joseph P. Keefe Regional Technical High School in Framingham, Mass., got a first-hand look at how scientists use ships to study the ocean during a recent tour of R/V Knorr at the dock in Woods Hole. The students had learned about WHOI and raised $300 to support the Institution for a project on ocean awareness in their Environmental Science class. Teacher Julie Westcott says some of her students had never seen the ocean before their visit to WHOI; some of the students say they now want to pursue ocean science as a career.
