Future Ocean Vision

A group of students from the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, Mass., visited the Ocean Science Exhibit Center recently on what has become a regular event sponsored by WHOI physical oceanographer Amy Bower (background). In addition to her work on ocean currents, Bower, who is legally blind, also conducts outreach to introduce visually impared students to oceanographic research. While at WHOI, the students learned about changes in corals worldwide from MIT-WHOI graduate student Hannah Barkley (left) and conducted a hands-on activity to learn how ocean acidification will likely affect coral reefs in the future.(Photo by Jayne Doucette, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
