Rochelle “Shelley” A. (Ugstad) Reardon

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death of former employee Rochelle “Shelley” A. (Ugstad) Reardon on October 1 from complications of renal cell carcinoma at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She was 44.

Shelley began her career at WHOI in 1997 as a research assistant in G&G.  In 1999, she was promoted to engineering assistant in G&G.  In June of 2003, she transferred to the PO department and left in August of 2003.

Shelley is survived by her husband, Dennis Reardon; daughter Kayla and son Liam, of East Falmouth; her parents Janet Eckhart of Appleton, ME, Bob & Su Usgstad of Remer, MN; her grandmother June Olsen of Connecticut; sisters Ryan Greeder and her family and Sage Ugstad, both of Minnesota; sisters-in-law who were just like sisters, Kristin Berhing of Wareham, Mass., and Kathryn Roth of E. Falmouth and their families; and in-laws Ed and Virginia Reardon of Washington, ME, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Shelley and her family are grateful to the team at Dana Farber and Brigham & Women’s, particularly Dr. Choueiri, and Dr. Narang, for providing her with the most honest, upfront and compassionate medical care possible.

A celebration of Shelley’s life was held at Saint Anthony’s Church in East Falmouth on October 15.
