Homer R. Delisle

The Institution has received word of the death December 26, 2005 of
former employee Homer R. Delisle at his home in East Falmouth of
cancer.  He was 71.

Homer Delisle was born and raised in Burlington, VT, where he graduated
from Cathedral High School. He joined the U.S. Air Force and served
more than 20 years before retiring as a master sergeant from his last
post at Otis Air Force Base. During his years in the Air Force he was
stationed at many locations overseas, and he served in both Korea and
Vietnam.  He also spent five years in Saudi Arabia working for
Lockheed Aircraft Corporation.

He moved to Falmouth in 1970, and joined the Institution staff as a
security guard in 1972.  He left WHOI in 1975 but returned in 1979
as a clerk in the Smith Stockroom, where he worked until 1986.  He
later worked for Puritan Clothing Co. in the uniform department and
most recently as a driver for Habilitation Assistance Corp. in
Pocasset.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley (Carlson) Delisle of Falmouth; a
daughter, Michele A. Arigo of Plymouth, MA; two sons, David A. Delisle
and Daniel A. Delisle, both of East Falmouth; three grandchildren; a
brother, Daniel J. Delisle of Texas; and a sister, Joyce M. Delisle,
also of Texas.

Visiting hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 28,  at
Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth. A
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. December 29 at St.
Patrick’s Church on Main Street in Falmouth. Burial is private.
