MIT-WHOI Joint Program Student Orientation Cruise, November 2023

In November 2023, a team of 20 MIT-WHOI Joint Program students steamed out on R/V Neil Armstrong for a 50h introductory research cruise. For many of them, this was the first time on a research vessel, conducting a multidisciplinary survey of the shelf and shelfbreak front south of New England. The PO department was strongly represented with 8 of its members onboard. The cruise was led by the students Lukas Taenzer (PO), Kate Lane (Biology), and Lina Taenzer (Chemistry) who thank WHOI Marine Operations for the ship time and the Armstrong crew for welcoming a new generation of oceanographers aboard.
