Duo Chan, Postdoctoral Scholar, joins WHOI’s PO Department. Duo earned his PhD in Earth and Planetary Sciences from Harvard University. His research interests include developing statistical and physical tools to reconstruct past climate variability, with a particular interest in the earth’s thermal history. Duo’s current research includes improving historical sea temperatures at both the surface and the ocean interior. He also use these improved estimates to understand, for example, the role of ocean heat content in climate sensitivity, the influence of sea surface temperatures on hurricane genesis and droughts.
