Stefanie Semper, Postdoctoral Fellow, joins WHOI’s PO Department.  Stefanie earned her PhD in Physical Oceanography from the University of Bergen, Norway.  Stefanie’s current research interests are slope currents, dense water formation, air-ice-sea interaction, shelf-basin exchange and overflows.  She is working with Mike Spall, Larry Pratt and Bob Pickart to better understand the pathways and dynamics of the dense water in the Nordic Seas that sustains the lower limb of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation.  Stefanie enjoys hiking, running, and skiing in the mountains. She also plays basketball as well as the trumpet and the piano.
