CTD and rosette deployment off the side of the Coast Guard Cutter Healy

CTD and rosette deployment off the side of the Coast Guard Cutter Healy during Robert Pickart’s RAPID cruise in Baffin Bay in September-October 2021. The project, RAPID: Fate of freshwater and heat in the West Greenland Current, was to quantify freshwater and heat budgets and current structure of outflow from the major glaciers and Baffin Bay into the Labrador Sea. Over 200 CTD and water sampling stations were occupied transiting Baffin Bay from Davis Strait north to Baffin Island on the west and Greenland to the east. This bird’s eye view photo shows the CTD and rosette package just touching the water at the beginning of a cast. (Photo by Chief Petty Officer Matt Masaschi/USCG)
