WOODS HOLE PUBLIC LIBRARY (WHPL):
August 19 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Woods Hole photographer/journalist Mark Chester will speak about his newest publication, Roadshow Anthropology, on Monday, August 19, at 6:30 p.m. at the library. This collection of engaging black-and-white photographs captures America from the driver’s seat. Offering fresh perspectives on the United States’ iconic highways, byways, back roads, and small-town main streets, Mark Chester puts America’s unique spirit of innovation on full display. With humor and pathos, Roadshow Anthropology explores high and low culture and the worlds of commerce, architecture, design, advertising, and fashion. As a social commentator and a connoisseur of Americana, Chester pays homage to a range of influences, including the work of photojournalist Lee Friedlander. For his talk at the Woods Hole Public Library, Chester will share photographs and the stories behind the photographs from Roadshow Anthropology, and as readers of his monthly columns in the Falmouth Enterprise will know, his stories and his photographs are always artful, witty, and entertaining.
