WOODS HOLE PUBLIC LIBRARY

July 28 @ 8:00 am - July 30 @ 5:00 pm

Professor, author, and Woods Hole local Daniel Isenberg will talk about his newest work, This Book is Not For You: My Loss, My Grief, My Healing on Tuesday, July 28, at 3 pm at the library. In this personal and poignant book, Isenberg recounts the loss of his wife after a four-year battle with cancer. It is a uniquely honest and intimate look into his experience through the time leading up to his loss and in the months after. Though the subject matter is difficult, readers have described the book as “powerful, beautiful, painful, resonant, and vivid.” The library is once again celebrating the creativity of our community with a Summer Community Art Project featuring original works made by local artists. This summer, artists and makers were invited to create a piece using cork (as in wine bottles, flooring tiles, and more!) as a common medium. This vibrant display of imagination and craftsmanship will be on display at the library beginning on July 20 and will culminate in a silent auction on Thursday, July 30, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. The public is invited to view the art in the library leading up to the event and to join in the auction to bid on their favorite creations. All proceeds from the silent auction will directly benefit the Woods Hole Public Library, supporting its ongoing programs, services, and community initiatives. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate local talent, support the library, and perhaps bring home a piece of original cork-inspired art. Light refreshments will be served during the event.
