WOODS HOLE FILM FESTIVAL

July 31 @ 12:00 am - August 7 @ 12:00 am

The Woods Hole Film Festival (WHFF), the oldest film festival on the Cape and Islands, is celebrating its 30th year from July 31-August 7, with both in-person and virtual screenings and events! Most of the 52 feature-length and 104 short films–with more than half directed by women–will be screened in person followed by live Q&As with the filmmakers at Redfield Auditorium, the Simon Center for the Arts at Falmouth Academy, and the Cotuit Center for the Arts. For those watching films online, recordings of the Q&As will also be available. The festival includes a mix of first-time and veteran filmmakers (26 have participated in the festival several times previously) with a focus on films and filmmakers with ties to New England, as well as films about science, music, and politics; there are 24 world, 7 North American, 3 US, and 67 New England premieres, and you never know when one of them might make it to the Oscars. This year’s edition also includes the festival’s trademark events, including daily filmmaker chats, a master class with Filmmaker-in-Residence Alexis Gambis (who works with MBL Director Nipam Patel), and panel discussions, including two of note: “From Woods Hole to the Red Carpet: The Path to the Oscars” featuring five festival alums whose films went on to either win or receive Oscar nominations, and “Obsessed with Netflix? So Are We!”  a conversation with Ken Florance, Vice President of Content Delivery of the streaming giant. Individual tickets (available here), as well as ticket packages and passes for online streaming (both available here) can be purchased in advance as well as during the festival. Passes range from $35-$225 (various discounts for members) and provide access to films and events on the virtual platform. Ticket packages for in-person and virtual screenings range from $75-$120. Individual film, master class, and panel discussion tickets range from $14-$20 (various discounts for members). For more information, call (508) 495-3456 or email info@woodsholefilmfestival.org.
