PEANUT BUTTER CLUB: Why Bridges Collapse
January 31, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
PEANUT BUTTER CLUB: Presents the video “Why Bridges Collapse” on Friday, January 31, at noon, in Redfield Auditorium, 45 Water St., Woods Hole. In 2018, Italy’s Morandi Bridge collapsed, tragically killing 43 people. For 50 years, the iconic bridge had withstood the elements—and stress from ever-increasing traffic. What went wrong that fateful day? And how can new engineering technology protect bridge infrastructure to prevent such tragic failures in the future? Sponsored by the WHOI Visitor Center. Coffee, tea, and cookies served. Donations accepted.
