PEANUT BUTTER CLUB: “Super Reefs – The Future of Coral” & “Life on the Reef – Episode 1″

May 31, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

In celebration of World Reef Day, we present the video “Super Reefs – The Future of Coral (5:21)” followed by the PBS video “Life on the Reef –  Episode 1 (55:10)” on Friday, May 31, at noon, in Redfield Auditorium, 45 Water St., Woods Hole. Video one: “Super Reefs – The Future of Coral” are coral reefs that are able to survive ocean warming, and some can breed resilient larvae that can reseed other reefs. Because Super Reefs can teach us what conditions favor coral reef survival and regrowth, they are of great interest to scientists and conservationists. This video was produced in conjunction with Boston’s Northern Light Productions with Funding from the Atlantic Donor Advised Fund. Video two: “Life on the Reef.”  View the Great Barrier Reef as tourists enjoy the perfect weather, humpback whales give birth, and fire destroys a luxury yacht. On the most protected island in Australia, 20,000 green sea turtles return to the biggest reptilian breeding colony on Earth. Sponsored by the WHOI Visitor Center. Coffee, tea, and cookies served. Donations accepted.
