Researchers locate salp swarm in the North Atlantic

After days of searching for a salp swarm in the North Atlantic Ocean, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institutioinresearchers Erich Horgan and Laurence Madin bring a bonanza of Salpa aspera onto the ship. There are so many that the net bulges with salps. They measure the volume in garbage cans, and Pat Kremer (University of Connecticut) begins a long night of measuring the lengths of salps in the sample (Courtesy of Discovery Science Channel)
