I oversee the daily operations of our #machine #shop, weld shop and mechanical services, as well as manage the dockmaster duties. We pretty much fabricate everything from raw stock here, a lot of small intricate parts that you can’t buy anywhere else. It’s really impressive to see something transform from a drawing on a monitor to a finished product. ⁠

The guys who work here are amazing, they make my job so much easier. I’m very fortunate to be surrounded with extremely intelligent people from many different backgrounds. Sometimes people come in with just a general concept and we sit down and kick around ideas with them. We have that family vibe here– the engineers are grateful for the time we take for a face-to-face conversation and making sure there are no issues with the plans. We know how important these parts are. ⁠

I love my job. Every day, there’s something new. That’s what makes it exciting: one day I could be working on something for #HOVAlvin, or another day, building a cage to protect equipment at the bottom of the ocean. The things coming out of this shop go all over the world. It’s a lot bigger than Woods Hole.
