WOODS HOLE PUBLIC LIBRARY: Week of October 16

The library is beginning a new season of “Knitting at the Library.” This event takes place twice a month, on the first and third Thursdays, from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m., throughout the winter. Rather than a class, this is a group of people who like to knit, sitting together and knitting. However, all skill levels are welcome. People will be happy to interrupt their own projects to coach others. It is a nurturing environment, in the time-honored manner of neighborliness and encouragement. New participants are welcome to stop in and “try it out.” Learn about the art and craft of chocolate making on Sunday, October 22, from 4-6 p.m., while tasting a selection of handmade chocolates from the acclaimed chocolatiers and Cape Cod entrepreneurs, Katherine Reed and Josiah Mayo of Chequessett Chocolate, made in their factory right in North Truro. Wine pairings will be provided by Falmouth Wine and Spirits. Spend a delightful afternoon at a private home on Penzance Point and watch the sunset from Penzance’s highest point while enjoying treats at a reception following the talk and tasting. The event will take place at a private home on Penzance Point – to be disclosed with your ticket purchase. Tickets are $40 and are available at the library, Eight Cousins in Falmouth, and online. Seating is limited so buy your tickets now! For more information, call the library at (508) 548-8961 or visit www.woodsholepubliclibrary.org.

THE WOODS HOLE FOLK MUSIC SOCIETY (WHFMS): October 29

Presents “Geoff Muldaur” on Sunday, October 29. This celebrated singer and guitarist has been described as "one of the greatest voices to emerge from the 1960s folk and blues scene." He's still touring regularly and we're thrilled to be on his circuit. A founding member of the Jim Kweskin Jug Band and the Paul Butterfield Better Days Blues Band, a collaborator with former wife Maria as well as Bonnie Raitt and Jerry Garcia, Geoff's newest albums mixing blues classics with original material have met with wide critical acclaim. Fresh from tours in the world's top venues (Lincoln Center, NY; Getty Center, LA; Festival Hall, London; etc.) he of the uniquely magical voice, immaculate guitar picking and eclectic blues-tinged Americana repertoire will bring us songs old and new, from before his 20-year performing hiatus to hot off the press this year. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $20, $17 for members – with discounts for, seniors, youth, and children. The Community Hall is handicapped accessible.
