William G. Metcalf

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution has received word of the death January 31, 2001, of retiree William G. “Gerry” Metcalf of Falmouth at age 82. Gerry worked at the Institution in the Physical Oceanography Department from 1945 until his retirement as an Associate Scientist in 1979. Following his retirement he was appointed Scientist Emeritus.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 5, at 9:30 a.m. at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth, with burial to follow at the V.A. Massachusetts National Cemetery. Further details will be posted as available.
