Peter P. O’Reilly
The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death November 26, 2003, of retiree Peter P. O’Reilly, formally of Mashpee, in Phoenix. He was 77.
Peter was born in Dublin, Ireland, where he lived until 1940. He then lived in Felixtowe, England, until 1960 and on Cape Cod until this September, when he moved to Phoenix at the invitaion of friends Rita and Ivan French.
Peter worked at the Institution for nearly 20 years starting in 1968 in the marine department. He also served with the Royal Airforce during World War II.
He enjoyed time with Bryson French and Kayli Dziobecki, who he considered his “great-grandchildren.”
;Survivors include a daughter Susan Mergy of Cincinnati; a brother, Chas O’Reilly of Dublin; four grandchildren; and eight grandchildren.
