Financing Wastewater Solutions for Cape Cod Workshop
Holiday Inn - 1172 Route 132, Hyannis
Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in partnership with the Cape Cod Water Protection Collaborative
and the Association to Preserve Cape Cod will convene a workshop on wastewater financing. Paying for wastewater
infrastructure is a major concern of Cape Cod towns as the region grapples with developing solutions to the
intensifying nitrogen loading problem that degrades coastal water quality. Target audience includes municipal
officials, town board members, finance and wastewater planning committee members, water departments, DPWs and
consultants. Financial experts will present on different financing options, the Massachusetts State Revolving
Fund, relevant legislation and the role of the federal government in funding wastewater projects. Guest
presenters will discuss methods used to raise revenue locally (Chatham and Nantucket) as well as innovative
approaches used in the Chesapeake Bay Region. The workshop will conclude with a discussion on ideas to consider
for raising capital for the region.

Clean Energy for Towns and Schools: Saving Money and Going Green Workshop
Location: Cape Cod Community College
The Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve and the Cape and Islands Renewable Energy
Collaborative and others will collaborate to present a workshop at the Cape Cod Community College
for town administrators, select board members, finance, energy and building committee members, school
administrators and board members and DPWs. Participants will gain knowledge to aid in greening up vehicle
fleets, reducing energy use and increasing the percentage of renewable energy used in schools and municipalities.
Presentations by experts as well as peers will provide participants the inspiration and initial contacts
to begin implementing energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in their own schools and towns.
In addition to the full day workshop, there will be a tour of the College’s Platinum LEEDS building, a vendor’s fair
and opportunities to view alternative fleet vehicles up close.
Co-sponsors: Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve
and the Cape and Islands Renewable Energy Collaborative
