Training Needs
CTP activities are designed specifically for "coastal decision
makers" - people who make decisions that affect the health
of our coasts in their day-to-day professional or volunteer lives.
Coastal decision makers include municipal officials, federal and
state agency staff, legislators, non-governmental organizations
such as civic and watershed associations, and business people such
as builders, bankers, realtors and marina operators. CTP efforts
target the North Shore, greater Boston, the South Shore, Buzzards
Bay, Cape Cod, and the Islands.
CTP is conducting formal audience assessments to determine the
needs of these different coastal decision makers. In 2002, local
municipal officials were targeted for the first audience needs assessment.
The purpose was to evaluate the training, information, and skill
requirements of coastal decision makers in local governments. Below
