Postdoctoral Scholar Jacob Davis joins WHOI’s PO Department. Jacob earned his PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington. His research interests include ocean surface waves; air-sea interactions; tropical cyclones; and instrument development and methods. Jacob is working with Steve Jayne (PO) to study air-sea interaction processes inside hurricanes using air-deployed floats and buoys and with Madison Smith (AOPE) to develop machine learning methods for measuring ocean surface waves from submarine fiber optic cables.
Outside of research, Jacob is passionate about music-both listening and playing. He also enjoys drawing, cooking and exploring the outdoors through biking and skiing.
