Our Ocean in Focus Photography Contest
Meet the Judges
Paul Caiger
Paul Caiger is at the cross section between science and photography. Trained as a marine scientist who's experience ranges from rocky reef ecology to deep sea fishes, Paul is also widely published as an underwater photographer. He cut his teeth into underwater photography in northern New Zealand's diverse kelp forests, but has since dove around the world from cold temperate seas to the tropics and open ocean environments. Caiger's articles and images have been published in various popular press, including New Zealand Geographic, the New York Times, Save Our Seas, Oceanographic, Alert Diver, is a regular contributor to Dive Pacific and a collaborator with Cinematic Science. A firm believer that people care about what they see and know, photography thereby is a powerful conservation tool to bring the marine world to the collective consciousness.
Stephen Day
Stephen Day, originally from the United Kingdom, started his artistic journey painting waterscapes and bird portraits at the age of eighteen. His current paintings are best described as waterscapes "Approaching Abstraction," where color and texture are the media and the message. View here.
