Researchers off the coast of Greenland near the mouth of Scoresby Sound were performing CTD and mooring work for the EGNOG cruise this summer. The East Greenland NOrdic seas Gateway (EGNOG) project is funded by the US National Science Foundation and involves current measurements in the East Greenland Coastal Current to help assess the current’s influence on the stability of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC). Dan Torres, WHOI, and Nick Foukal, UGA, were chief scientists on the cruise. The ship, R/V Thorunn Thordardotti, is brand new, sailing under the flag of Iceland. Video courtesy of Andy Davies.
