An afternoon on the RV Sally Ride:  Brian Hogue (foreground, steadying the instrument) from the FIXIT Lab and Austin Liou from the Upper Ocean Processes Group (background, running the A-frame) are helping to deploy a modem-PIES, which is one component of an Internal Wave Resolving Array deployed west of California through the National Ocean Partnership (NOPP) Global Internal Wave (NGIW) Program.  This instrument is a collaboration between the WHOI PIES Lab and the Send Lab at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and near-real time data are being returned to shore from the PIES.
