June 2021: Under the lead of Glen Gawarkiewicz the R/V Neil Armstrong surveys the Southern New England shelfbreak searching for subsurface salinity intrusions that penetrate onto the comparably fresh continental shelf. The project’s sampling strategy is highly adaptive and features AUVs, turbulence profiling, and CTD casts to survey the region on a variety of scales. Regular updates are shared on the project’s blog: sirates.sites.umassd.edu. Photo Credit: Lukas Lobert (WHOI)
