Sphere deployment from the Canadian Icebreaker Louis St. Laurent for Beaufort Gyre Freshwater Experiment (Chris Linder)
|
 | The Mooring Operations, Engineering and Field Support Group at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution
provides a full range of mooring services from design and fabrication
through deployment and recovery. Collectively, this team brings
more than 100 years
of experience to the oceanographic community worldwide.
The broad range of services offered by Mooring Operations includes
surface and subsurface mooring fabrications, as well as the
coordination
of logistics and at-sea support (see Capability).
A large inventory of resources is maintained for loan, including
mooring winches, air tuggers, and many other mooring related items (see Equipment Available for Loan). Refer to the Request for Mooring Budget
page to learn about budgeting and planning for Mooring Operations
support. Since this group services a large scientific population,
advance planning is critical to ensure that everyone's needs can be met
in a timely manner.
