John (Jack) Reese

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution has received word of the death of retiree John (Jack) Reese on December 12, 2010, in North Carolina.  He was 69. 

Jack attended Crafton High School in Crafton, PA.  After high school, he attended Keesler Technical Training Center at Keesler Air force Base in Mississippi. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, serving as a communications repairman from 1959 to 1967.

From 1971 – 1978, Jack worked at Falmouth Auto Parts as a salesman, machinist, and general building repair.  He began his employment at WHOI in 1978 as a Research Assistant II in the Physical Oceanography Department.  In 1997 he was promoted to Engineering Assistant II.  In 2001, he was promoted to an Engineering Assistant III and retired in 2005.

Jack is survived by his wife Caroline who lives in Pennsylvania.
