Arthur Costa

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow
the death on April 21, 2007 of retiree Arthur Costa in Falmouth,
MA.  He was 70.

Arthur grew up in Falmouth, where he lived all his life. In the early
1950s, Arthur worked with automobiles at Bobbets Auto and as an auto
body technician at Savory’s Auto yard both in Falmouth. Arthur began
his employment at WHOI in 1968 where he worked as a carpenter. He
officially retired in 1997.

He leaves his companion Florence Abell of 30 years and his children
Jodie Costa of Carver; Rebecca Dudley of Yarmouthport; Roberta
Camarota, Bonnie Jean Abell both of E. Falmouth; Arthur Costa, Jr. and
Michael Costa both of Yarmouth; Steven Shaw of Maine; Ronald, Jeffrey
and Daniel Abell all of E. Falmouth; Michael Abell of Mashpee; 4
brothers John “Ritchie” Costa and Joseph F. Costa, Jr. both of E.
Falmouth; Ronald and Robert Costa both of Florida; and a sister
Marianne Souza of E. Falmouth. He also leaves 16 grandchildren and 2
great granddaughters.

A funeral mass was celebrated on Wednesday at St. Anthony’s Church in
E. Falmouth and the burial followed in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
