Frederick S. Eggleston

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow
the death of former employee Frederick S. Eggleston in Maine on April
7, after a brief illness.  He was 65.

Fred began his employment at the Institution in February of 1968 as a
lab assistant in computer operations.  In 1974 he transferred to
facilities as an assistant electrician.  He left the institution
in April of 1978.

Fred enjoyed nature, especially the ocean.  A sportsman, he also
enjoyed bird hunting, fishing, and fly fishing as well as boating.

Survivors include his wife Kathleen (Bracchi) Eggleston, to whom he was
married for 36 years.  He was the father of two sons, Frederick S.
Eggleston IV of Canton and Joshua F. Eggleston of Watertown; a daughter
Aimee M. Ahearn of Woodstock, Connecticut, a sister, Judith Woodman of
Ledyard, Connecticut; two grandchildren; five nieces, and nephews; and
grandnieces, grandnephews, and many cousins.  

Visiting hours will be Wednesday, April 11, from 3 to 7p.m. at Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, Route 28A, West Falmouth.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday morning at 11a.m. at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Quaker Road, North Falmouth.

Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at a later date at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Scarborough, Maine.
