Dynamic Dynamicists

For 10 weeks this summer, participants in the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics program at WHOI are attending talks by variety of scientists, among them Geoffrey Vallis of the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom (left) and Kerry Emanuel of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who delivered the program’s initial lectures. The 2014 program includes public lectures focusing on the theme “Climate Physics and Dynamics.” Graduate student fellows in the program also take an active role; they are expected to complete a research project under staff supervision, then present a lecture at the program’s end.
